Light the Lamp

People, today I came across a very beautiful short story and I wanted to share with all my fellow writers.

One night Sri Adi Shankaracharya, a great Advaita Master, was desperately searching for something on the street outside his small hut.

One of his pupils was returning after completing an errand. On seeing his Master in desperation, he could not control his curiosity & asked , “Acharya, what are you looking for here in the street at this hour?”

To which he replied “I lost my needle, I’m looking for it”. The pupil joined him in the search but after searching for a while he asked, “Can you try and recollect where you might have dropped it?”

Shankaracharya said, “Of course, I remember. I dropped it near the bed in the hut.”

The pupil, utterly astonished at the strange answer, said, “Acharya you say you lost it in the house then why are we looking for it outside?”

Shankaracharya innocently replied, “There is no oil left in the lamp, it is pitch dark inside the house. Hence I thought searching for it outside since there is enough street light here.”

While holding back his laugh the pupil said, “if you lost your needle inside the house, how could you even expect it to find outside?”

Shankaracharya simply smiled back and pupil understood the deep message behind the Acharya’s puzzling act.

Isn’t that what we do?

We run to various shrines and religious places, walk up the mountains in search of what we lost inside, in ourselves.

Why?

Just because it’s pitch dark inside!

Silly, aren’t we?

Light the lamp inside you and find your lost treasure.

Acharya- Master

Are you listening??

Once my soul had a rendezvous, with a beast masked as human. It demanded a reform.

Yelling, screaming, shrieking for a transformation, for an astute manipulation of thoughts.

A keen penetration to my own soul and gouging out all the goodness, burning each thread of benevolence.

Glaring and gaping at me simultaneously, with an uncontrollable contempt so that for once I could be a beast too.

For once I could be the someone who enjoys hurting others

For once I could be the culprit rather the victim.

Those vicious barbarous sounds still lingers in my ears-

Are you listening??Answer Me!

You can be as vile as you want. I’m the darkness you have been waiting for.

Embrace me. Surrender!

Are you listening??

What’s your idea for a Date??

Euphonic Frank Sinatra’s music
A glass of wine
Classy romantic evening
And a date with self❤️

What’s yours?

Song that keeps playing in my head?

Strangers in the Night

Strangers in the night
Exchanging glances
Wondering in the night
What were the chances
We’d be sharing love
Before the night was through?
Something in your eyes
Was so inviting
Something in your smile
Was so exciting
Something in my heart told me I must have you

Strangers in the night, two lonely people
We were strangers in the night
Up to the moment when we said our first hello
Little did we know
Love was just a glance away, a warm embracing dance away
And ever since that night
We’ve been together
Lovers at first sight
In love forever
It turned out so right
For strangers in the night

Love was just a glance away, a warm embracing dance away
Ever since that night
We’ve been together
Lovers at first sight
In love forever
It turned out so right
For strangers in the night

Dear Mail Box

Dear Mail Box,

You were the supreme time travel machine. Finding hand written letters in that rounded trunk, delivering love every other day -you let people exchange emotions at different time. As a fantasy land, I wish to enter in you hoping to reach an era of a Stranger-Land where ‘I’ being the happy news for someone.

Broken, unessential & burned out,
Me

Humans be like:

Man 1: Hey! I have been seeing you struggling for a long time. May I help.

Man 2 {beamingly} : Sure. Can you?

M1 : Certainly. I will see what I can do.

[M2 meanwhile struggles really hard and almost achieve his goal]

M1 {sarcastically} : You yourself have done a lot without my help. Why would you need me now anyway. Seems like you didn’t trust me enough.

M2 {genuinely} : No! No, Friend. I trusted you but I didn’t want to be all dependent on you. I HAD to make up the leeway to keep my pride. But truly I AM grateful to you for even offering help in my hard times. I will always appreciate that. Thanks and do let me know if could be of any help to you. I would love to be.

{Smilingly, he walks away}

M1 {To himself} : YOU!!! YOU WILL HELP ME?
Yeah! Blow your own trumpet now. Disgraceful fellows. Why would ask for help anyway. I don’t understand how did he manage it himself to come up to this level. Totally unbelievable. I am sure somebody would have backed him up and that snobbish liar isn’t telling me the name. No one can struggle that much. I know I couldn’t in my past. Everyone needs a lifting hand. I was waiting for him to flatter me but NO. He didn’t even charm me enough, didn’t buy me any gifts and yet I was ready to help him. Why should I? and that too for free?

Well! Now I am gonna see how far can he go on his own. I am going to set zillions of roadblock in all his assignments, might even snatch away his supporters. I will not let him accomplish anything and then I will see how he doesn’t come up to me crawling and begging to be helped.
